Frequently asked

Questions, answered.

Our practice is a short trip from Southbourne, with good connections in every direction: By car — follow Christchurch Road west through Pokesdown and Boscombe. The road continues straight into Holdenhurst Road, and our clinic is on the left close to Lansdowne Roundabout. Allow around 12–15 minutes for the drive. Free on-site patient parking means you can come straight in without circling for a space. By bus — the Morebus m2 runs frequently from Southbourne Crossroads through Boscombe and into the town centre, with stops within easy reach of our clinic. Journey time is around 20 minutes. The 1a also travels along Christchurch Road heading westbound towards Bournemouth. If you need us late at night, the N2 night bus covers a similar route. By train — Pokesdown station is the closest railway stop to Southbourne, a short bus hop or 10–15 minute walk depending on where you are. From Pokesdown, it is one stop to Bournemouth Station, and our practice is a 5–7 minute walk from there along Holdenhurst Road. By bicycle — the ride from Southbourne Crossroads takes around 15–18 minutes heading west along Christchurch Road. The route is flat and follows the main road the whole way. By taxi — a cab from Southbourne to our door typically takes around 10–12 minutes.

No! and you never will. We made a deliberate decision to remove registration entirely. There is no form, no enrolment and no need to transfer from another practice. All we ask for when you call is your name, a contact number and a brief idea of the issue. That is the full process. First-time callers, people without any current dentist and visitors to the Southbourne area are all equally welcome.

It is the foundation of everything we do. Excruciating toothache that painkillers cannot touch, a tooth that has cracked or shattered, a restoration that has come loose at the worst possible moment, swelling or infection in the mouth or jaw, an abscess, bleeding that will not settle, or a tooth that has been completely knocked out — every one of these situations calls for urgent care, and we are equipped to deliver it the same day you ring. Call 07444 745 491, and we will arrange an immediate appointment. Once you are with us, we will assess the damage with X-rays, give you a clear account of what has happened and start treatment without delay.

Yes, completely interest-free. Unexpected dental bills can be unwelcome, so we offer 0% payment plans that let you spread the total across smaller monthly payments. The reception team will talk you through every option at the appointment. You can take as long as you need to decide, there is no deadline and no pressure whatsoever.

The consultation is a flat £50. That includes a full clinical examination, all X-rays and a complete diagnosis with a clear explanation of what needs to happen. If treatment is required during the same visit — a filling, an extraction, root canal therapy, a temporary crown — we will quote it line by line and wait for your go-ahead. Nobody starts work on your teeth until you have approved the cost.

If you are in pain, over-the-counter painkillers like ibuprofen or paracetamol can help manage discomfort until you reach us — follow the dosage instructions on the packet. If a tooth has been knocked out, try to place it back in the socket gently without touching the root, or keep it in milk. For a broken or chipped tooth, rinse your mouth with warm salt water and avoid chewing on that side. If you have swelling, hold a cold compress against the outside of your cheek in 10-minute intervals. And if there is heavy bleeding, bite down firmly on a clean piece of gauze or cloth. Most importantly, call us as soon as you can on 07444 745 491.
